Frequently Asked Questions

Questions builders ask before routing payments and compliance through True Home. Don't see yours? Drop us a line and we'll get back to you within the day.

Do I have to stop using my current project management software?

No. True Home runs alongside your PM platform. Keep your schedule, dailies, and selections where they are and route just the money and the compliance through True Home. Most builders start exactly this way on day one.

How fast do subcontractors get paid?

The moment you approve the work. Standard payout is free for the sub; expedited payout is available if they want the money sooner and choose to cover the fee.

What does True Home cost?

True Home costs 1% of project value, capped at $10,000 per year — so no single project ever pushes you past the annual cap. No annual contracts, no per-user fees, no setup fee. Subcontractors pay nothing unless they choose expedited payout.

What do my subcontractors pay?

Nothing at standard payout speed. A sub who wants their money faster can choose an expedited option and cover that fee themselves — the choice is theirs, and it never comes out of your pocket.

Who holds the funds?

True Home manages the full flow of funds — we collect payment from the client, hold it securely while the work is reviewed, and release it to the subcontractor once you approve. That hold is the point: it's how True Home ensures money only moves for approved, compliant work. Every transfer runs on regulated payment infrastructure through Stripe and Plaid, and funds in transit are kept separate from True Home's operating accounts. True Home is a neutral platform provider — not a bank, and not a party to your construction contract.

What happens if a sub's insurance lapses mid-project?

Payment to that sub is blocked until coverage is current. Compliance is re-checked at the moment of payment — not just at onboarding — so a certificate that expired after approval still stops the next release. You and the sub are both notified so it gets resolved fast.

Which documents does True Home track?

Certificates of insurance (COIs), W-9s, and lien waivers — collected once from each sub, tracked across every job, and verified before every payment. The waiver trail is assembled automatically for your lender or title company.

How do my subs get onboarded?

You invite them by email. Subs upload their COI, W-9, and banking details once, and True Home verifies the documents and keeps them current — no software for the sub to learn and nothing for them to pay.

Is my data secure?

Payments run on regulated rails through Stripe and Plaid; True Home never stores bank credentials. Your data is never sold, and compliance documents are shared only with the parties on the job.
